What dresses to sew for summer?
As the weather warms up and the sun shines, we’re starting to feel the need to stock up on pretty summer dresses.
Here are a few ideas for sewing patterns to get you ready for sunny days!
A draped dress
This summer, we’ll be seeing a lot of draping on summer dresses. The idea is to play with material and volume.

To sew this piece, you’ll need a stretch jersey, which you can choose plain or floral to follow this season’s bohemian trend.
This is a fairly simple project to assemble if you’ve already sewn a few garments and are comfortable with jersey.
Make sure you have a jersey or stretch needle for your sewing machine.

A white dress
White dresses won’t be confined to weddings in the coming months: they’ll be seen everywhere! It’s a basic that can be dressed up with pumps and a jacket, or down with a pair of sneakers.
You can combine this color with another trend, the wrap dress, for a timeless, timeless piece.

The babydoll dress trend
The 2000s are making a comeback, but we’re not forgetting the seventies, which continue to influence bohemian looks and flared pants. In this vein, the babydoll dress is back this summer, with its flared skirt and short cut.
When sewing this piece, remember to choose a fluid fabric such as viscose or cotton voile for a very light effect.

La bohème
Long, lightweight dresses, sewn in beautiful floral prints, will continue to be on trend this season.
If you already have a bit of experience, you can try your hand at making Delhi by Fée Main Patrons. For children, you can lengthen the Patronnes Porquerolles dress to give it a more country feel, already present thanks to its smocked bust.

The shirt dress
A must-have in women’s fashion, the shirt dress will also be very much in vogue this summer. It presents the same technical difficulties as a classic shirt: collar, buttoning straps and patch pockets.
You can make your own if you already have some experience, or if you’d like to take the plunge and learn how to master these finishes.
To sew a shirtdress, you can use a more or less fluid fabric, depending on the desired effect. A viscose will give a very supple, relaxed feel. A drier cotton(cotton poplin) will add a stiffer touch and look great worn with a belt. You can also choose a linen fabric, which is very comfortable and elegant to wear in summer.
When it comes to color, pastel shades are just the thing for summer!
