What can you sew with less than a metre of fabric?
We all have cotton or viscose coupons in our cupboards that we don’t know what to do with.
We’ve put together a collection of projects that require just 1 meter of fabric. Enough for a real spring clean!
A half-moon bag
The most logical choice when you have a small fabric coupon is to sew yourself an accessory like a small bag. With just 30 centimetres of main fabric and 60 centimetres of lining fabric, you can make a pretty half-moon bag.
A quick and easy project that uses a piece of denim or upholstery fabric. And for the lining, a piece of cotton, such as poplin, is all you need.

A buttoned top for summer
The Botticelli top, with its row of buttons that can be sewn to the front or back of the project, requires just one meter of fabric. Here, you’ll need to choose the thinnest possible fabric for a romantic, wispy feel: poplin, batiste or cotton voile.
If you have less than a meter of fabric, you can sew the straps and neckline in one color and the rest of the top in another shade, or with two patterns if you like mix-and-match!

A jersey tank top
Tank tops and crop tops are perfect options for using coupons of less thana meter of jersey. You can easily use several colors if you have scraps left over from different projects.
Atelier Adriette’s Roxana tank top is fairly simple to assemble and can be a great way to get started sewing stretch fabrics. It’s available in several lengths, so you can adapt according to the amount of jersey you have.

An easy-to-sew oversize top
The Patronnes Matisse top is easy to sew, accessible to beginners, and uses less than a meter of fabric! With its oversized cut and drop-shaped back opening, it’s perfect for spring or summer. Wear with jeans, dungarees, shorts or a skirt, for example.
You can use a wide range of fabrics to make it: each fiber will give the piece a different look. Viscose, cotton batiste, broderie anglaise, double cotton gauze…

A short skirt for all seasons
The Vestiaire Eponyme Intrépide skirt requires only 80 to 100 centimeters of fabric, depending on the size chosen. You can sew it with a fabric that holds up well, like a cotton twill, for an original piece that’s easy to wear in spring or winter with tights.
No great difficulties here, apart from the zip to close the skirt and the flounce, which you have to take your time putting on!

A skirt to mix and match
The Georgia skirt from Vestiaire Éponyme is an ideal sewing kit if you want to use as little haberdashery as possible. All you need is 60 to 80 cm of fabric, depending on the size you choose to sew.
As Georgia is made up of different yokes, you can use different fibers to create a patchwork or “color block” effect, and vary the materials: suede, twill, denim…

Timeless shorts
Shorts are a practical piece to have in your closet. They can be worn in mid-season with a pair of sneakers or in winter with tights and boots.
The Clématisse Pattern uses less than a yard of fabric and can be sewn with faux leather. Or thin wool, tweed, thick jeans… The options are numerous, depending on your desires and the supplies you have at your disposal!

A skirt for children
Children’s garments are obviously less fabric-intensive than adult pieces. With just 90 cm of fabric, for example, you can sew our Chabichou skirt, a slightly flared, elasticated skirt. Depending on whether you want to make it for summer or winter, you can choose a cotton poplin or a warm velvet.
Do you have any patterns you like that don’t require a lot of fabric? What one-meter coupons do you have lying around?
