The colors we’ll be sewing in 2025
If you’re looking for inspiration for your future sewing projects, why not take inspiration from the colors that will be on trend in 2025?
Brown, golden yellow, orange, red… there’s something for everyone!
The “mocha mousse
Every year, Pantone unveils the color of the year. In 2024, the American company crowned peach fuzz, a soft pink-orange.
This year, the trend color is very different: it’s mocha moss, a warm, natural brown that we’ve already been seeing on the catwalks for a few months, reminiscent of earth, wood or chocolate. A choice that evokes the earth and a return to our roots, and confirms the trend towards minimalism.
This comforting brown will look particularly good with elegant, wide-leg pants like Comme une fleur’s Zya. You can wear it with a white t-shirt or blouse, depending on the occasion, or pair it with a bright color like red to bring contrast to your look.
Bright red
Already present on the catwalks in 2024, red will continue to be highly prized in 2025. Particularly “tomato red”, which is both vivid and deep. A strong color that works well with brown, beige or white.
Tomato red is best used for sewing beautiful spring or winter dresses. If you’d like to sew a piece that would work equally well in winter with tights or in spring with a light jacket, you can combine a beautiful red viscose with the Doline long dress.
Golden yellow
If you love bling bling, then you’re in for a treat this year, as gold will be all the rage. You’ll be able to stock up on lamé polyester or lamé silk and create pieces worthy of a red carpet.
To tame gold, you can sew a fairly classic piece like Cousette’s long skirt and wear it with a white t-shirt and a faux-leather jacket to break up the dressy side of this piece.
Tangerine orange
Already very fashionable in 2024, the color orange will continue to be on the catwalks and in our wardrobes. The trend won’t be for bright, almost fluorescent orange, but rather for sweet, tangy tangerine orange.
To highlight this hue, you can sew a jacket like this one from Fée Main and wear it with jeans or a long skirt for a casual, original look.
Powder pink
Candy pink has been in vogue in recent months, thanks to the global success of the Barbie movie. In 2025, we’ll be back in a softer, less flashy shade with the grand return of powder pink.
You can use powder pink jersey to sew a sweater, like the Niki sweater from Patronnes. A great way to create a piece that’s both comfortable and elegant.
You can also use this shade to sew a trench coat for mid-season. The Ma petite fabrique pattern allows you to make a short or long version, depending on the look you’re going for.
Turquoise blue
If you like bright, original colors, turquoise blue will also be making an appearance in our closets. We’ve seen a lot of it on the catwalks, particularly in combination with mustard yellow for vibrant, vitamin-packed looks.
Turquoise blue will go particularly well with a strong piece like a faux leather jacket. You can follow Coralie Bijasson’s pattern. Please note, however, that this garment is rather difficult to assemble and contains many technical points. So it’s best reserved for those with some sewing experience.
If you prefer to use turquoise as a small touch in your look (and this goes for all the strong colors of 2025), opt for a bag instead. For example, you could sew a banana with imitation leather or upholstery fabric (using our Simplo pattern) or a tote bag in suede or jacquard. To sew the latter, head for the Miss Cactus pattern, available in three sizes.
What colors do you want to be sewing in 2025? Will you be following any of these trends?
